Angelina Proenca rounded off a fine season with a brilliant 2nd place in the X30 Junior class at the Trofeo Ayrton Senna in Sarno. For the young Frenchwoman, it was a fine reward for all the effort she has put in since the Minime category.
Right from the start, Angelina Proenca showed great speed, which was confirmed when she moved up to the X30 Junior class. A member of the Jana Racing team, she has benefited from Nicolas Moni’s coaching to make progress, particularly in race management. Her promising form earned her selection to Alpine’s Race(H)er programme last February.
From January to December 2023, Angelina had a busy season. Highly determined with a fierce desire to learn, she spared no effort in international competition. Her participation in the IAME Euro Series was tough but instructive, with a few dazzling performances to boot. She gradually asserted herself and in November finished a fine 8th in the WSK Final Cup on the demanding Lonato track.
From 8th to 10th December, the Trofeo Ayrton Senna was her last race of the year. The weather wasn’t easy to get to grips with at the end of autumn on the 1,550m circuit of the famous Circuito Internazionale Napoli in Sarno, where the track changed rapidly with sudden downpours. Angelina started by setting the second fastest time in the X30 Junior Qualifying. She held onto 2nd place at the end of the Qualifying Heats, and was solid in the battle of Race 1 where she finished 3rd. She confirmed her 3rd place in Race 2 to finish on the second step of the podium.
Very proud of her 2nd place trophy, Angelina is now taking a step back before preparing for the 2024 season, which promises some exciting new challenges.
